Playing in their fourth U.S. Open final, the 32-year-old Bryans improved to 3-1 with a hard-fought 7-6 (7-5), 7-6 (7-4) victory over a 16th-seeded tandem of Indian Rohan Bopanna and Pakistan's Aisam-Ul-Haq Qureshi in the finale at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center. Qureshi lost to Bob Bryan and Liezel Huber in Thursday's mixed doubles final in New York.
The Bryans now own nine Grand Slam doubles titles, including their other U.S. Open ones in 2005 and 2008. They improved to 9-8 in their career major finals overall and also captured the Aussie Open title earlier this season.
The popular American twins, who now own 65 doubles titles overall, will split $420,000.
