10/18/2008 - Maui, HI (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Brittany Lang managed a one-under 71 in breezy conditions Friday to join Suzann Pettersen atop the leaderboard after two rounds of the Kapalua LPGA Classic.
Pettersen, who led by one after the first round, posted an even-par 72 in round two. The duo completed 36 holes at four-under-par 140.
Laura Diaz (71), Alena Sharp (67), Jee Young Lee (70), Sun Young Yoo (71), Ji- Young Oh (71) and Il Mi Chung (68) share third at minus-three. Sharp's 67 was the low round of the day and was just one of six rounds in the 60s on Friday.
Women's world No. 1 Lorena Ochoa rallied with a four-under 68 to move into a share of 11th at one-under-par 143.
The retiring Annika Sorenstam also rallied on Friday. She carded a two-under 70, which helped her make the cut by a shot at plus-three.
Lang parred her first two holes before tripping to a bogey on the third. She bounced back with a 12-foot birdie putt at the fourth, then parred the next six holes.
Around the turn, Lang dropped in birdies on the 11th and 13th to move into the lead at minus-five. After parring the next two holes, she dropped a shot on the par-four 16th.
Lang parred 17 and 18 on the Bay Course at Kapalua Resort to end at minus- four. This is the first time Lang has owned a piece of the 36-hole lead on the LPGA Tour.
"I am really looking forward to this weekend for the experience, because I haven't been in this position and I've been trying to put myself in it for so long," said Lang. "I am real disappointed with the way I finished up (Friday). I didn't capitalize on the par-fives with my length, and then I hit a really terrible shot on 16. I hope to finish up better on the weekend."
Pettersen, who played two groups behind Lang, birdied the second from 12 feet out to get her round going. After four consecutive pars, she faltered to a three-putt bogey at the seventh for the second straight day to slide back to minus-four.
After four straight pars, Pettersen again three-putted for bogey on the par- three 12th. She two-putted for birdie from the front edge of the green at the par-five 15th to join Lang at minus-four.
Pettersen parred 16 and 17. At the last, she had about 25 feet for birdie, but missed the putt to share the lead after two rounds.
"It's definitely tough out there in the afternoon," Pettersen stated. "I just left way too many putts out there. I would have been happy even with two- or three-under, that's how I felt."
Candie Kung (70) and Seon Hwa Lee (69) share ninth at two-under-par 142. Ochoa and seven other players are one shot back at minus-one.
The cut line fell at four-over-par 148 with 70 players making it to the weekend. Among those who missed the cut were Pat Hurst, Stacy Prammanasudh, Brittany Lincicome and Reilley Rankin.

Super Bowl XLIV Odds
Super Bowl XLIII isn't even a week old yet and oddsmakers have already released Super Bowl XLIV odds.
Despite the Pittsburgh Steelers winning Super Bowl 43, the New England Patriots are 8/1 favorites to win Super Bowl 44.
Bet Super Bowl XLIV Future Odds
With their 27-23 victory over the Arizona Cardinals in Super Bowl XLIII, the Steelers became the latest NFL champion. But believe it or not, oddsmakers from online sports book MySportsbook.com don't have the Steelers the favorites to win Super Bowl XLIV next season.
That honor belongs to the New England Patriots, who are 8/1 favorites to win despite not even qualify for the postseason in 2008. The Pats also have a major decision to make regarding what to do with Matt Cassel, who played well in Tom Brady's (knee surgery) absence last year but is also a free agent this offseason.
Ironically, the Steelers aren't even oddsmakers second choice to win Super Bowl 44, as the Dallas Cowboys are listed right behind the Patriots at 9/1 despite not making the playoffs themselves. Clearly oddsmakers think the public will hop back on the Cowboys' bandwagon considering the immense talent they have and the opening of a brand new stadium.
After Dallas, then comes Pittsburgh at 10/1, but they share those odds with the New York Giants, who won Super Bowl XLII. The Indianapolis Colts and San Diego Chargers round out the top six teams at 12/1, while the Baltimore Ravens (14/1), Tennessee Titans (16/1), Carolina Panthers (18/1) and Philadelphia Eagles (18/1) complete the top 10.
The NFC Champion Arizona Cardinals got no love from oddsmakers as they were established as a 30/1 long shot to win next year's Super Bowl. They share those same odds with the Chicago Bears and Tampa Bay Buccaneers – two teams that didn't even qualify for the postseason. Other long shots are the Kansas City Chiefs (100/1), Detroit Lions (100/1), St. Louis Rams (75/1) and Oakland Raiders (75/1).
